This book was not at all what I expected...it was much deeper. Ms. Blair did a fabulous job of contrasting the differences between a true BDSM lifestyle vs. abuse. Even a vanilla person like me was able to understand Kat's need for her Dom and how he grounded her. I think what struck me about the book is that most of us have scars our parents may have left (hopefully not as deep as the scars David bore) and there are times we look in the mirror and see that same behavior in ourselves no matter how hard we try to distance ourselves from it. It was interesting to see this conflict play out in David and see the final outcome. I especially loved David's selflessness in taking care of Kat after the resolution of David's relationship with his father. If you are looking for something light and fun, this isn't it. If you are looking for something a bit darker that will make you think, read on.
